ENERGY MODULE

The energy module consists of:
3 times 3 inputs for current transformers
3 inputs for the grid voltage 400 V
1 input for a PT100 temperature probe
1 input for a 4-20 mA low-pressure sensor
1 Modbus RS485 for communicating with a GTC
1 set of jumpers for the addressing
1 second bus for communicating with the DNI

The module can be parametrised from the DNI and it is possible to install other modules, for example, to measure the power consumed by 5 compressors and the condenser fans. We preferred this procedure over the approximation using the polynomial calculation of the powers of the compressors that do not allow the variations in power due to the dispersion of charge of the cylinders, the variable speed drive or the systems with screw compressors to be taken into account.
With this module, we can take into account the consumptions of the condenser fans as well as the power consumed by the pumps in indirect systems. The 4-20 mA low-pressure sensor, along with the PT100 temperature probe, allow the overheating of the compressors to be measured and the enthalpy in the intake to be calculated. You have understood properly. It is now sufficient to connect an ultrasound debimeter* to determine the mass flow of the system. The DNI will calculate the instantaneous cooling power as well as the real COP.
All of these values are directly accessible in a table in the DNI display, in which we can view the readings of the active, reactive or apparent powers. From Sentinelle, it is possible to generate a graph of powers (absorbed/cooling) with the exterior temperature, integrating the real COP.

CONDITIONING :
Before conditioning, it is possible to install a DNI with one or two energy modules and a debimeter in order to monitor the powers and the COP. After conditioning, from Sentinelle it will be easy to compare the COP of the two fluids thanks to the relational databases. It is therefore possible, for example, to guide the COP at an exterior temperature of between 15 and 20°C for both coolants.

THE FLUCTUATING HP MODULE

THE DNI can be equipped with a fluctuating HP module developed by Matelex.
This module replaces the existing regulation.

The fluctuating HP module consists of :
4 relay outputs expandable to 12 by adding 2 modules of 4 relays
1 inverter relay output for automatic/emergency ignition
1 output of 4-20 mA for the variable speed drive
1 output of 0-10 V for the EC motor
6 digital inputs for starting the compressors
1 digital input for switching the module on/off
1 digital input for night mode (silent)

WHAT IS THE AUTOADAPTIVE FLUCTUATING HP FOR ENERGY MANAGEMENT ?
The classic fluctuating HP responds to a modulation law of the order of High Pressure (HP) depending, principally, on the exterior temperature. With the DNI and its calculation power, Matelex goes much further in its management. The regulation of the Fluctuating HP module adapts to the real energy consumption measured with the energy module. The regulation will make brief attempts to exceed the classic law and check whether exceeding it is beneficial in energy terms; thus, the algorithm will make its law of regulation evolve dynamically.

DNI

The DNI is an expert, latest-generation system for coolant leak detection.

PRINCIPLE :
The DNI continuously measures the level of coolant in the tank(s) of the refrigeration system as well as other technical parameters such as temperatures and pressure.
All of this data will be saved every 2 or 3 seconds for several months in the DNI. Every hour, the DNI gathers all of the data and analyses it using various algorithms to determine whether the system is leaking or not. This operation is known as «leak inspection using indirect measurement methods», in accordance with the European regulations. As the DNI is capable of determining whether the system has begun to leak, it also constitutes a leak detector.

The alarm resulting from these analyses is known as a «statistical alarm». This is extremely accurate for detecting leakage. The DNI also integrates a low-level alarm for the tank, which is called a «classic low-level alarm». This alarm is an improved version of the «float or optical» alarm you will already be familiar with.

The DNI can be fitted in any type of refrigeration system of cooling or air conditioning. Nevertheless, the tank must be equipped with gates so that the column of liquid for measuring the level can be fitted. The optimum load of fluid in the refrigeration system is 500 or more tonnes of equivalent CO2, which corresponds, for example, to 128 kg of R404A for refrigeration and meets the strictest regulatory obligations (4 leak inspections and the compulsory fitting of a leak detector from 1 January 2015).

EQUIVALENT CO2 ARE STILL INCREASING IN EUROPE AND WORLDWIDE.

In 2005 , the emissions of coolant in Europe were estimated at 90 million tonnes of equivalent CO2 and, if it continues in this way, by 2030 we will have reached 104 million tonnes per year.
For this reason, in April 2014 the European Union reinforced the regulations related to fluorinated greenhouse gases with the new regulations (EU) 517/2014 that came into effect on 1 January 2015. This standard is commonly known as F-Gas.
The European Union’s objective is to reduce emissions by 60% by 2030 to limit them to around 35 million tonnes of equivalent CO2 per year, in other words, an additional decrease of around 70 million tonnes per year compared to current progress.

One of the measures taken is the allocation of quotas for the marketing of coolants by producers and importers. These quotas are also measured in tonnes of equivalent CO2 and have been calculated in relation to the volumes put on the market between 2009 and 2012. These authorised quotas will be reduced year by year until, in 2030, it reaches 21% of volume authorised in 2015.
One of the mechanical effects of these quotas is the increase in the price of coolants with a high GWP such as R404A, which has already started.

Other measures concern restricting and banning the sale of certain coolants and significant measures for their confinement.

The increase in the frequency of leak inspections according to the volumes of equivalent CO2 contained in the refrigeration systems is one of the measures that directly affect the owners, as well as the new obligation to fit a leak detector in systems containing 500 or more tonnes of equivalent CO2, in other words, above 128 kg of R404A, for example.

All these regulatory obligations, without forgetting our moral responsibility in the fight against global warming, push owners and operators to install DNI with the aim of limiting direct and indirect coolant emissions at source and reducing energy consumption.

Matelex is the precursor to the automation of leak inspections with indirect measurement methods and registered a patent in 2009 (patent valid).
Since 2011, the French Ministry of Ecology has recognised this type of check in France and confirmed this decision in an interpretational document on 14 May 2013.

The DNI meets all of these obligations for a moderate price and enables return on investment in less than a year, guaranteeing the cold chain at all times.

There are currently more than one million DNI installed and the loyalty of our customers demonstrates the reliability of the DNI.
