Shopping, savouring, socialising – retail gastronomy in Düsseldorf

Anyone interested in retail gastronomy in Düsseldorf will sooner or later end up at Edeka Zurheide on Königsallee. That was the case for us too, during the trade press day for EuroShop 2026 in December.

We had invited journalists to a press briefing to inform them about the highlights awaiting visitors at EuroShop 2026. Afterwards, we explored exciting retail concepts together on a store tour through Düsseldorf – for example, the flagship stores Weleda Spa and Another Cotton Lab.

Our third and final stop was very familiar to me. I regularly shop at Edeka Zurheide in the Crown on Königsallee, and when we’re cooking for friends, Zurheide is always my first port of call. I can find exceptional ingredients here just as easily as all the everyday basics – everything in one place. One-stop shopping, in other words.

But the Zurheide market is far more than a classic grocery store. The Zurheide concept is built around the close integration of shopping and gastronomy. When we’re here at the weekend, the grocery run is often rewarded with a small culinary break – lunch or dinner, a coffee, or a glass of wine.

We will be reflecting this development towards retail gastronomy at EuroShop 2026 as well. Food service and retail gastronomy will play an even stronger role there – including the new Food Service Innovation Hub, which will focus specifically on these concepts, along with the solutions and products that support them.
