In addition to its seven existing Dimensions EuroShop 2020 will see another new eighth Dimension: Food Service Equipment. Because one thing is becoming very clear: gastronomy ranges are becoming a mega trend in retail. Already in excess of Euro 9 b of annual turnover is generated by retail gastronomy ranges at some 33,000 locations in Germany alone. According to a current study carried out by the EHI Retail Institute, three-quarters of those retailers polled rate the importance of gastronomy in retail as high to very high within their company.
For instance, a lot of planning and conversion work in food retail is currently focusing on gastronomy: the share accounted for by food outlets in shopping centres is on the rise, petrol stations are offering ready-to-eat dishes, department stores are setting up themed restaurants that tie in with their surroundings and an increasing number of gastro concepts are appearing that play a key role in welcoming customers and making them feel good. And one key aspect is particularly important for retailers – in-store eating areas keep customers inside the store. This helps to slow down the shopping process and lengthen the time consumers spend in the store.
So, this is a very topical and booming market that also makes very specific demands on equipment and design. What would be more fitting than to offer at EuroShop, that covers retailers’ entire requirements in terms of investment goods, a new dimension focusing on Food Service Equipment. While FoodTech was already included in the Energy Management Dimension at EuroShop, the new dedicated Food Service Equipment Dimension will now offer a considerably extended range to meet rising demand. Featured here will be everything retail needs to equip its gastronomy outlets such as bakery stations, pizza ovens, rotisseries, ice cream and coffee machines, dishwashers, hobs, combination steamers, extractor units, juice presses and glasses, crockery or cutlery to name just a part of the range here.
